MakerBot Replicator 2 Aluminum Build Plate
Stop worrying about warped acrylic buildplates on your Replicator 2 3D printer. This aluminum buildplate upgrade ensures a completely flat surface to print on. Use the entire build area of your plate for your 3D prints.
When the acrylic buildplate on your Replicator 2 warps, it means that the nozzle is too close to the buildplate in some places and too far away from the buildplate in other places. This means that your nozzle will gouge your plate where it is too close and filament will not stick properly in the areas where it is too far away. This means that you can only realistically use a small percentage of your total build area or risk failed prints.
The plate is shelled out to reduce weight and resonance. It weighs less than the acrylic buildplate and is more durable (and weighs less) than glass buildplate alternatives.
You will want to apply BuildTak or some other build surface to the top of the aluminum, as the aluminum itself will not stick to PLA very well.
This is a part in waitlist mode. Once there enough people on the waitlist we will begin cutting buildplates. The sooner the waitlist fills up, the sooner production will begin!
