NOTE: THIS IS A PREORDER for our current production run of this part. We expect to have parts ready to ship by mid to late January 2021. Placing your order now is the only way to guarantee that we will produce enough for your order. There is no limit to how many you can order. If you order this item with other parts, we will ship the other in-stock parts in your order right away and will ship this in-production part once we have them in-hand.
Thank you for your understanding.
Stop worrying about warped acrylic buildplates on your Replicator 2 3D printer. This aluminum buildplate upgrade ensures a completely flat surface to print on. Use the entire build area of your plate for your 3D prints.
When the acrylic buildplate on your Replicator 2 warps, it means that the nozzle is too close to the buildplate in some places and too far away from the buildplate in other places. The nozzle will gouge your plate where it is too close and filament will not stick properly in the areas where it is too far away. If this happens, you can only realistically use a small percentage of your total build area or risk failed prints.
The plate is shelled out to reduce weight and resonance. It weighs less than the acrylic buildplate and is more durable (and weighs less) than glass buildplate alternatives.
You will want to apply BuildTak or some other build surface to the top of the aluminum, as the aluminum itself will not stick to PLA very well.
