Blower Fan for the MakerBot Rep 2

Remove the blower fan and active cooling fan duct by unscrewing the two black screws attached to the blower fan.

• Return to the extruder. Use your Allen key to remove the two screws on the bottom of the print head that are holding the extruder assembly to the carriage. Remove the extruder and set it aside.

Tip the machine onto its left side.

• Remove the wire loom from the printer. If there are zip-ties holding it on, you’ll need to remove those.
• Use the Allen key to remove the bottom panel.
• Remove the ferrite clamp from its dock near the motherboard. Open it and set it aside.

Remove the white blower fan connector from the motherboard. Carefully pull that wire away from the rest of the cable bundle.

• Grab your new blower fan and connect it to the motherboard.

Clamp the ferrite back over the fan wire and the thermocouple wire, as shown. Snap it back into its dock.

• Place all wires back into the wire loom (zip-tie where necessary). Screw the bottom panel back into place. Place the machine upright.

Set the extruder assembly back onto the carriage and tighten.

• Return the the side of the extruder and place all the wires inside the active cooling fan mount. Place the blower fan and tighten the screws. Be sure to zip tie the cables back.
