Item Showcase: Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder Kit

Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder Kit

Micro swiss direct drive kit with all metal hotend.

What This Kit Does

The Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder Kit replaces your stock extruder and hotend with a direct drive system that includes an all metal hotend. The carriage is made out of lightweight aluminum and all of the parts feel substantial and well made. The kit includes everything you need for installation, instructions for installation can be found here.

How This Kit Will Benefit Your Prints

Converting a bowden system to direct drive is one of the first upgrades many hobbyists make to their machines and in most cases it makes a positive impact on their print quality. Direct drive systems allow for more accurate and consistent extrusion, as well as much lower retraction distance, eliminating many of the retraction issues seen with bowden systems. Direct drive systems also allow you to print flexible filaments like TPU and the all metal hotend included in this kit will allow you to print high temperature materials like nylon or polycarbonate. This kit also includes a brass plated wear resistant MK8 .4mm Nozzle which helps when printing abrasive materials.

Is This Kit Right For You?

If you are an avid 3D printer who is looking to improve your print quality, or start experimenting with new materials this kit is for you. However, if you are new to printing I would recommend mastering your stock machine before attempting any major upgrades. That way if something does go wrong you will know the cause of the issue and how to fix it.

      Hey Chris,
Unfortunately neither of the Micro Swiss kits are directly compatible with the Chiron. It is possible to make the kit work on your machine but this does require significant modifications.

      Thanks!
